Week 20

Fences & fechas 

Hey everyone!!

I hope you all have had a GREAT week! Sorry I haven't gotten around to responding to you all today - it's been crazy busy and hectic! BUT know that I'm thinking and praying for you and that I love you all so much!

Here's my week! It was so good!

Lunes ~ Patience is key 

~ Hermana Vargas had a doctor's appointment this morning, and afterwards we ate completos at the best completo place en centro (sorry mom) 

~ We were gonna play pool with the district after but Hna Vargas & I ended up going guitar shopping instead! I've yet to find a good one here… but I'll keep you updated

Martes ~ Nothing so bitter, nothing so sweet

~ We put a FECHAAAA  with our friend Julio! Julio is the brother of Matilda - she invited him to church on Sunday and he said that he really really liked it and wants to learn more! So he and his sister are gonna get baptized together!!! 

~ We ate lunch en centro today! While we were eating there was a two year old little girl and her dad walking by us. The girl was sobbing her eyes out, but then saw me, IMMEDIATELY stopped crying, pointed at me, and shouted (with sass, I might add), "GRINGA!" 

~ Spent the day running all over our sector meeting with people! We ended the night with a drop lesson (it was lowkey kinda sad) but afterwards we got free cookies and I think we went on a little bit of a sugar high  I also fell while we were walking and skinned my knee pretty bad. Once again… #classichermanagearymoment 

Miércoles ~ Milagros y ejemplos 

~ INTERCAMBIOSSSS TODAY! 

I was with the lovely Hermana Woodley (she's actually my fav ever) working in La Florida A

~ Funniest moment today: We were knocking doors earlier and there were a couple stray dogs playing at the end of the street. But as soon as we knocked this one door, the dogs started sprinting towards us. Hermana Woodley is like, DEATHLY afraid of dogs here, and she legit started CLIMBING THE FENCE of this random persons house  A couple seconds later this lady came out, and suddenly it was up to me to talk because Hermana Woodley was legit on top of the lady's fence… But the worst part is that I literally could NOT pull myself together, and this poor woman just watched us fold over, red-faced laughing while I was struggling to get out the words. Eventually she just told us that she wasn't interested and we ran away laughing while still trying to escape the dogs

~We put a FECHAAA with Olsvaldo!  Olsvaldo is the brother of a convert in our barrio. And wow, this member is a hero to me! He went through a lot of hard things to be able to join the church, especially with his family, but now he is just so faithful in his walk with God - he accompanies us all the time and is filling out his mission papers… And now in a couple weeks, he'll be baptizing his brother! It's so precious! 

Jueves ~ FELIZ FELIZ!!!! 

~ CUMPLEAÑOS DE HNA VARGAS!! 

We had a so much fun throughout the day and we did a little party with the Hermanas at our apartment tonight! 

~ We put ANOTHER FECHAAAA  with Miguel Angel! A couple weeks ago while we were walking, he stopped us and asked if we could give him the church information because he wants to come on Sunday. He came, and now he's getting baptized! I honestly have no idea what God is doing here in La Florida, but He is working so many miracles!!! 

Viernes ~ Just one soul 

~ Today we had plans to go visit a couple people, but after praying, we both felt really strongly that we needed to do referencias (Hermana Vargas is on the referencia team for our mission). So we mostly did lots of calls today! And the people we talked to were so good and so prepared! 

~ Noche de juegos tonight! We had SO. MANY. PEOPLE. It was kind of insane haha!

Sábado ~ “Jorge, put your pants on!”

~ CRAZY day. So much happened haha. First things first…they asked me to be a part of the reference team! Hermana Crump gave me permission and I'm officially part of the group! That basically means that I'll be calling people who put their information in a social media ad and referring them to missionaries in their area (pray for my Spanish haha ) 

~ The first thirty minutes of doing referencias today and our WhatsApp got blocked for spam  So we're out of our only way to contact people until they can fix it for us lol

~ We did a noche de hogar at Jorge’s with our friends tonight! It was so good!

Domingo ~ What is this joy?! 

~ Sandra and Richard passed their baptismal interview!!!  This Saturday could not come soon enough!!! 

~ Lots of references again today (we're having to catch up from this past week) and lots of meetings

~ Had once with Millaray and her fam tonight! It was so fun haha. I love them so much! 

 Spiritual Thought 

As Easter comes closer, it's never a better time to be thinking about who Jesus is in our lives! 

I promise you that you will feel Him and His love closer to your heart in a more sincere way than before. He loves you. He knows you. He lives! And because He lives, we have everything.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
