Week 6
Snails & Bathroom Doorknobs
Buenos tardes todo!
I hope you all are doing fantastic. I miss you all so much and I absolutely LOVE reading all your messages. I'm trying to respond to as many as I have time for, but please know that I love and cherish every single one of you. If you have any prayer requests, life updates, or literally anything you want to share, send it my way! I would love to hear!
This week was really good! Here's some things you can expect:
- THE SPIRITTTTT

- Spanish gives me headaches
- Earthquakes
- Hermie the snail (our district mascot)
- 3 boxes of tissues per day
- Christmas lights
- Bathroom doorknob
BUTTTT before I get into all that, I would love to start by remembering the whole reason why I'm here - Jesus Christ!
Scripture of the week
"And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."

2 Nephi 25:26
I also was asked to give a spiritual thought in this week's MTC devotional! It was pretty cool. If you want to hear me talk in Spanish, I linked the audio to this email!

Here's my week!
~ I had a KILLER headache today, but God was looking out for me! Elder Waite had a prompting this morning to pack Tylenol in his bag, which was odd for him since he only ever uses ibuprofen. Just a little tender mercy that reminded me of how well God knows us!
~ I don't know how to explain this, but I felt like a missionary today. I truly tried and worked hard, even when it was difficult or I was the only one; I genuinely loved others and took sincere opportunities to serve them; I truly testified from my heart and remembered my Savior Jesus Christ. I just felt like a disciple today. And there's no better feeling in the world!

SΓ‘bado - El idioma del EspΓritu
~ We started sΓ³lo espaΓ±ol today! That means we speak Spanish allllll the time - even during meals, studies, classes, workouts, and everything in between. I actually liked it a lot, and I'm learning a lot too! I think my companions are having a little harder time staying positive haha. My maestra told me to be the teacher/cheerleader for the district

~ Learning to follow Jesus Christ because I love Him, not just because I have a testimony and know that I should. And boy, I really do love my Savior!
“Si no tengo caridad, nada soy.” 1 Corintios 13:2

Domingo - Just keep with Jesus, and all is well

~ Felt a little overwhelmed by things earlier today. Everything felt really loud and chaotic and I was always in a crowd of people. But after lunch, my comps and I took a walk outside, and once I saw God's creations and remembered Jesus Christ, I just felt quiet, calm, and rested. He is my refuge!

~ Devotional was really good! I was so nervous to speak haha but it ended up being super cool and Spirit-filled!
~ I can feel myself becoming the mom my future kids need me to be. I think I'm starting to take after my mom, who is everything God knew I would need; who loves unceasingly and boundlessly; who takes after Jesus and follows in His footsteps. And there's no one else whom I would want to resemble than my two best friends!
Lunes - “I know that He loveth His children”
~ We were all really tired this morning so we played zip zap zop during class (our teacher is the best). It reminded me of doing theatre in high school haha
~ The President of the MTC came to find me during our lunch block to tell me that he really liked what I said in my talk and that he wanted a copy of it!

~ Got sick again
This time it's a bad cold and achy muscles. BUT it's okay because God placed so many people here to take care of me and I am so grateful!

~ All the Latino elders keep asking for my email because apparently they all have huge crushes on us
~ Earthquakes happen all the time here - there was one today and we had to pause class for it
~ This week’s group of Latino missionaries have honestly become some of my best buds, and I'm so sad that they're leaving!
~ We got to see a preview of the christmas lights today! It was so beautiful and there was just such a special spirit in the air.

~ I have the BEST district. We motivate each other so well and God knew we would need to start out our missions in this district
MiΓ©rcoles - Faith, failures, and snails
~ Taught a really cool lesson (all in Spanish). I love how the Spirit prompts me to know what to say!
~ Took a Spanish exam today - got a 5.4 (I’m kinda proud that I've learned so much in such a short amount of time! )
~ Elder Schroeder is obsessed with the snails here (there's a lot of them) and he keeps bringing them inside and sticking them around our classroom

~ The elders in my district accidentally locked themselves in the bathroom and then broke off the doorknob trying to get out
They were desperately banging on the door and yelling at us to get them out - we ended up needing to get the maintenance guy to help them. Genuinely the funniest moment of my life

Jueves - Poco a poco
~ Last pday before I go to the mission field!
~ Temple in the morning
~ I can breathe through my nose today! (miracles)
~ We just got 90 new missionaries in the CCM - there's SOOOOOO many people here! Apparently it's the most full this MTC has ever been
Spiritual Thought
One of the missionaries from Virginia sent me a song this week, and I've been thinking about it a lot! I want to share with you a short few lines because these words are just so beautiful to me. They remind me of the great depth of Jesus' sacrifice and God's love for us.

"Because He gave to me everything He had to give, I breathe, I see, I hope, I love, I live."
Here's the song if you want to listen to it!
That's all for this week! Next time I talk to you all, I'll be in Chile!!!

I am so incredibly excited to serve the Lord and His children here in South America. Thank you all for your messages, thoughts, and prayers! I truly feel them lifting me up.
My next pday will probably be on Monday, December 15th - so I'll talk to you all then!
With my whole heart,
Hermana Geary
