Week 26
6 MONTHS BABYYYYY
Hey everyone!!! This week was SO FUN!! Honestly a pretty typical week, but just filled with so much JOY! Also... I hit 6 months as a missionary today!!!!! I can't believe I only get to do this for 12 more months.
Scripture of the week
"And he shall come into the world to redeem his people; and he shall take upon him the transgressions of those who believe on his name; and these are they that shall have eternal life, and salvation cometh to none else." Alma 11:40
Let's get into it!
~ Super chill day today! We got lunch at Subway (they have everything here) and bought some food for the week. It was pouring down rain so after that we went home to clean and talk to people, and we took a FAT nap

~ Noche de hogar tonight in the church! It was really fun. I love sharing a sector with the other missionaries haha! They're so hype!!
Martes ~ You might try to laugh
~ Today was CRAZY haha!! Long story short, all my money was spent on viajes
there was a confusion with the lunch schedule and two hnas made us lunch. So we were traveling back and forth between the two until they just told us to go to Hermana Rosa. We showed up 30 minutes late

~ After lunch, the elders told us to take the bus because it's cheaper. Well, the bus had to travel to the top of MachalΓ before it looped back around to our sector…but there was a car accident in the middle of the road, and it dropped us at the very top of Centro, leaving us like an hour and fifteen minute walk away from our sector
We could've been upset or angry, but we decided to take Elder Wirthlin’s advice instead - come what may, and love it! So, we laughed… And laughed, and laughed, and laughed
My abs hurt more than my feet by the end of the day because of how much we were laughing!! It ended up being a really funny moment and a sweet memory too.

^^ Those innocent moments before the bus driver kicks you off
MiΓ©rcoles ~ Led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand
~ We had consejo de zona this morning and OHHHHHH my goodness it was so good. They made it so funny but so sincere and so spiritual at the same time. Towards the end, they asked each of us to think about how we felt when we were baptized. They asked me to share my experience, and I don't really know how to explain this, but the room went quiet. We could all feel it. Right after I shared, Elder Whiting shared his tender experience about how he has strengthened his relationship with Jesus - while he was beginning his mission, his little brother passed away. With tears streaming down his face, he shared how he knows that death is not the end, and how he has found hope in Jesus Christ. It felt like we were in the temple. The Spirit stayed throughout the rest of the day too. It was amazing.
~ Another CRAZY thing that happened today: WE PUT SOMEONE ON DATE IN OUR FIRST CONTACT!!!

Her name is Yesenia (yall can keep her in your prayers!). Long story short, there were a lot of little decisions we made that were guided by the Spirit, and we didn't even know it until after the fact. And that's how it usually is. When we met her, we used the flow (
) to introduce the restored gospel and baptism, and she said that she really wants to get closer to God. We asked her if we could help her prepare to be baptized at the end of May, and she said yes! THE SPIRIT LEADS US TO THOSE WHO WILL HEAR HIS MESSAGE!!!

~ Hermana Martin hit a month on the mission today!! We hyped her up hahaha. It was actually a really fun day!
~ We had a really good lesson with our friend Juanita tonight! Her parents recently passed away and it's been really hard on her family. She's the oldest child so she's been trying to be strong for everyone else, but it's been really hard for her and she wants to find more strength. Hermana Martin tenderly testified of how she knows that the plan of salvation is real, because her dad passed away when she was little. It was really powerful, and the tears she spilled where the most beautiful sign of the Lord's faithfulness.
Viernes ~ My ears hurt.
~ We found our Uber driver today! He said he wants to bring his wife and kids to church!
~ We had a noche de hogar tonight… And OHHHHHH my goodness it was so fun haha! We sang karaoke and had once together. It was so funny, check my Google photos for videos of the elders singing
SΓ‘bado ~ Early bird gets the worm
~ Honestly a pretty typical day! I love my companion - we genuinely have so much fun together haha!!!!
~ It was COLD today. I was walking with double layers (it's still fall here)
~ We found a super cool guy this morning! Literally at 7:30 haha. We went for a run and he stopped us in the street! Super cool!!
Domingo ~ Come to the table
~ We had 2 awesome friends in church today! We had a lot more that confirmed but didn't come, but that's okay. I did a really good study of the sacrament this morning and it lowkey changed everything for me. Go check out 3 Nephi 18 - it's so good! There's so many cool insights and promises!
~ We spent so much time in the house today

After lunch we still had a full hour of comp study, full hour of weekly planning, and an hour and a half of referencias
But Hermana Martin is helping me with the referencias now so it's going a lot faster! She's such a CAPA!!!!

Spiritual Thought
This week I've been thinking a lot about Jesus' role in satisfying justice and mercy. He paid the price we could not pay - and because of His sacrifice, we have the capacity to become like Him! We still work to become better and improve, but it isn't for the purpose of trying to earn mercy or pay off justice. The purpose is change. It's like putting money in a savings account, rather than paying off debt. (Shoutout Brad Wilcox).
I want to invite you all to watch a video about this! This is a video we watched in my seminary class when I was in high school, and it helped me understand so much more the worth of Christ's atonement and why we strive to follow Him now. I promise that if you watch it with a sincere heart and an open mind, you will feel more of Jesus' love for you and you will understand the great importance of His sacrifice.
The Mediator
El Mediador
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
Love you all! Talk to you next week!
All my love,
Hermana Geary
