Week 32
The worth of souls

Holaaa a todos!!
I hope you all are doing so good!! This week was a fever dream haha, so much happened and the week flew by.
Let's start with a scripture!
Scripture of the Week
"And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved." Omni 1:26
Buckle up!
~ Super chill day! I need a good chill pday every once in a while
~ Went shopping and had lunch at Carl's Jr, then got cookies from Texas Cookies (basically Crumbl but in Chile). We live in the bougiest sector in the mission haha
~ Re-strung my guitar all by myself (...with the help of my dad over facetime lol)
~ Played truco with the elders outside their house until pday ended
Martes ~ Locked in the church, lasagna in the calle

How do I explain to you what happened today? Where do I even start?
~ Got a message this morning that a podiatrist was at the mission office offering free care to the missionaries, and they set up an appointment for us. The appointment was at two, and so was lunch. So we pushed back our lunch hour until afterwards and went in for the appointment. Well... while we were in with the podiatrist, the people who had the keys to the church gates left and locked us inside with no way to get out
We ended up staying locked inside the mission office for two hours
The elders had an appointment right after us, so they were waiting outside the reja the whole time, while we were trapped inside waiting for Elder Rogerson to come help us.
I just did referencias while we were waiting, but we were so hungry and missing out on sooo many contacts and lessons. But hey, tiempo de Dios...cierto?

~ At around 4:30, Elder Rogerson came with the keys and finally set us free haha. We took an Uber straight to almuerzo (we felt so bad for that pobrecita Hermana). Well, the Uber had the dirrecion incorrect and dropped us of a good ways away from the house, leaving us to walk the rest of the way…we started lunch at about 5:15 or so
~ The hermana heated up the lunch that she made for us (it was ice cold at this point because we had taken so long lol). When we got to the table, we realized that it was a GIANT casserole full of cheese and meat. It was so good, but it was so. much. food.
Later they gave us brownie for dessert and were saying that it's ok that we were late because at least we ate all the food that they made us
We were so bloated and filled afterwards
We were so bloated and filled afterwards~ You thought the story was over, didn't you?
Not quite…we left to work after lunch (for like 2 ½ hours lol) and later had a really good Memby with Marielvis. But on our way home, around 9:15 or so, I was talking to Hna Martin while walking, and all the sudden in the middle of the conversation, I stopped dead in my tracks and puked all into the bush next to me

I've thrown up in the mission before, but throwing up an entire casserole in the streets was a little humbling for me. We went straight home and decided to just call it a day
MiΓ©rcoles ~ God bless the church bathrooms
~ Luckily, for us and for the storage in your email accounts, today was not nearly as eventful as yesterday
We had a few lessons, did some referencias, found a family that had Fechas about a year ago!
We had a few lessons, did some referencias, found a family that had Fechas about a year ago! ~ One minor stomach event that happened again: Right before noche de juegos tonight my stomach started hurting super bad again, just like last week. I was chilling for a while, but suddenly I started feeling super nauseous and threw up again in the church bathroom
I don't know if it's the almuerzos or some sort of virus that's going around but I think I might need to take it a little easier haha. We stopped by the store to get crackers and Gatorade on the way home and I went to bed early

~ Consejo de zona hoy!!
We had breakfast together beforehand! I was so nervous to eat after all that's happened this week, but my stomach was feeling great and I held it all down, so I just went for it haha.
But consejo was genuinely so so good. There's so much hype in the zone right now and our leaders are genuinely the best! They did a couple really fun demonstrations (I got publicly humiliated for not knowing how to use a nerf gun) and they bore the sweetest, most sincere testimonies of Jesus Christ and the reality of this work that we do. RISE UP RANCAGUINOS!!!!
~ Hermana Martin had her first completo today!!! (I know she's already in her second cambio, I'm sorry
) We visited an inactive member family and did a little noche de hogar with them. We had a pretty powerful spiritual thought about the sacrament, and they felt the Spirit really strongly. It was honestly really precious!

~ At noon today I had to go into the mission office to get my fingerprints taken for my Visa. While we were there, I asked the office missionaries if they could help us with a WhatsApp problem we had…and it took literally TIME AND ALL ETERNITY to figure out. For a solid hour and a half, neither of us had WhatsApp and we couldn't figure out how to get it back on our phones
It all ended up okay though because we had just planned to do referencias during that time anyways, so we just did them in the mission office while the elders were working with our phones haha
~ Tonight the CRAZIEST coolest thing happened in one of our lessons. I'm using it as my spiritual thought so stay tuned

SΓ‘bado ~ "Me estΓ‘ convirtiendo! Puedo sentirlo!"
~ Pretty normal day today! We gave the spiritual thought about charity in the Hermana call this morning and it was really sweet. These Hermanas in our zone are so amazing!!
~ Abby came with us all afternoon - we met some cool people and had a really good lesson about the Book of Mormon with her neighbors! (#Memberworkftw
)

) ~ Hermana Martin got a blessing of health from one of the members - she twisted her ankle about a week ago and it's been hurting her ever since. The members here are awesome!
Domingo ~ Diamonds or rubies, but nothing is more precious
~ The sacrament was soooo powerful today. I truly felt my covenants. I feel like every week I have a new, more powerful experience with the Santa Cena than I have before! It's amazing!
~ We had a really really good lesson with one of our friends today. Usually we just have lessons with her at her reja, but this time she let us in and gave us tea, and told us all about her story. She told us that she never ever lets people in, but she felt something special about us and felt like she needed our light in her home. She told us that she has a lot of faith in God, but is still lacking something.
“I need peace. And you've been teaching me that I can find it in this book, and in Jesus, so I want to try it. Give me that book, tell me where to start - I won't stop reading until I find the peace that the two of you have.”
As she was opening the reja to let us out, she said that she felt a renewed energy to start her week. It was really cool! God is preparing His children!
^^Almuerzo with the elders again
Spiritual Thought
The rest of the day on Friday was kind of hard in all honesty. It was really cold with no sun, and everybody was saying no, some people in a pretty mean way.
There was one contact in particular, when we had just gotten rejected, and I sighed in discouragement - but then a little phrase came to my mind, I have to assume directly from the Spirit. It said, “With every rejection you face, you're one step closer to the person who is going to say yes.”
So of course, we kept going. Alllll afternoon, knocking doors and visiting friends and talking to people in the street, with nothing of success. Later, however, we showed up for an 8pm lesson, with a friend we had just found last Friday. We walk in to see that they had prepared once for us, and we sit down with a prayer in our hearts that we might be able to offer something eternal to them.
And wow…I think this has to have been one of the most powerful lessons of my mission. This woman and her husband poured their hearts out to us, telling us about the tragedies they've been through and the miracles they've seen - family dying suddenly and horrible tragic accidents, brain surgery that took out half of her husband's brain, cancer that went away overnight with no medical explanation, hardships and blessings, believing in God and being mad at Him at the same time. She told us that she's always been unsure if God exists, but that if He does, it's hard for her to believe that He is our loving Heavenly Father. We listened and bore sincere testimony to her that God truly does care, and then we showed her a church video called “The Will of God."
And wow…time stopped.
Glasses off, sobbing, wiping the constant stream of tears off her cheeks…our dear, precious, valient friend shared her heart with us: “That one line really hit me - where it said, ‘Thank you, God, for cutting me down, for loving me enough to hurt me.’
With all that I've been through in my life, I just can't help but think that He must love me more than anything else.”
The whole world stopped in that lesson. We felt the pure love of God. Nothing else mattered. And again and again and again, that one little phrase from doctrine & covenants kept coming to my mind - “The worth of souls is great in the sight of God.”
Our Heavenly Father knows His children. He sends armies to find them. He is in relentless pursuit of us. And Jesus Christ is sufficient to heal every wound and fill all the empty spaces of our hearts. I know this to be true, and today I had the immense, eternal privilege of helping our friend know about it for the first time in her life. Hours and hours of walking around, day after day, with swollen feet and frozen hands cannot and will never come close to comparing with the pure joy and desperate love I felt for the two of them in that lesson. God's children are worth fighting for.
I invite you all to watch this video and think about how the trials and difficulties in your life are evidence of God's love for you. I promise that you will feel as Karen did, and as we do, that God, in all reality, is your loving Heavenly Father - and He loves you more than anything else.

I leave this with you, along with my time-tested, storm-beaten testimony, and my whole heart,
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Have the best week ever! Don't forget to message me!
All my love,
Hermana Geary
